AFP - Nigeria, west Africa’s regional powerhouse, will deploy troops to Guinea-Bissau this week, Defence Minister Bello Haliru Mohammed said Monday at a meeting of regional defence chiefs.

Nigeria remains “committed” to its pledges to deploy troops to Guinea-Bissau and Mali in the wake of coups in both countries, he said, adding: “Our troops are ready.”

“In Guinea-Bissau, we will deploy before the 18th of this month,” he said, without stating how large a force would be sent to the former Portuguese colony whose government was overthrown on April 12.

“In Mali, we await the signals from (the regional grouping) ECOWAS. We have all our forces and equipment ready for airlift,” said Mohammed, who earlier led the defence chiefs to a courtesy meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan.

A Chinese group known as “Sino-Michigan Properties LLC” has bought up 200 acres of land near the town of Milan, Michigan. Their plan is to construct a “China City” with artificial lakes, a Chinese cultural center and hundreds of housing units for Chinese citizens. Essentially, it would be a little slice of communist China dropped right into the heartland of America.

This “China City” would be located about 40 minutes from both Detroit and Toledo, and it would be marketed to Chinese business people that want to start businesses in the United States. Unfortunately, this is not just an isolated incident. In fact, Chinese companies have been buying up land and businesses all over the country in recent years. There has even been talk of establishing “special economic zones” inside the United States modeled after the Chinese city of Shenzhen.

Algeria’s 50-year ruling party pulled out an election win and appears to have turned back a challenge from a strongly jihadist party.

Declaring an Algerian Spring, the government announced that preliminary results show the National Liberation Front, the party that has ruled Algeria since its independence from France, took 220 out of the 462 seat parliament. Another pro-government party took another 68 seats.

As good as that news appears to Western observers, International Christian Concern’s Middle East analyst Aidan Clay believes either way, the election results won’t make life easier for Algeria’s Christians unless certain specific changes are made in the law.

“Algeria’s Christian population, which consists of about 45,000 Catholics and between 80,000 – 100,000 Protestants, is slowly obtaining greater religious freedoms to worship and practice their faith,” Clay said, noting positive developments at the federal level.

Clay illustrates his point by citing a 2011 government decision.

FORT LEE, N.J. – Texting while driving is a crime in New Jersey, but what about texting while walking?

Police in Fort Lee, Bergen County, say if you are caught texting while walking you could face a fine. They say pedestrians are constantly putting themselves at risk of being hit by cars because they don’t pay attention while they are walking. So far this year, 20 people have been hit by cars in Fort Lee.

Police say they handed out pamphlets warning people about the crackdown. In the last month and a half, 117 tickets have been issued. The fine is 85 dollars per offense.

The newest battleground over the California legislature’s decision to establish a day to honor homosexual activist and politician Harvey Milk is YouTube.

SaveCalifornia.com President Randy Thomasson says YouTube recently pulled the video simply because homosexual activists complained.

”Homosexual activists didn’t like the truth that was in the video. The video carries the truth and was written by homosexual journalist Randy Shilts who was a reputable reporter with the San Francisco Chronicle,” Thomasson said.

”They don’t like the truth; they complained to You Tube and You Tube’s committee yanked it,” Thomasson said.

”They did the bidding of the homosexual activists and apparently don’t do their research and all of these are true facts,” Thomasson said.

Thomasson says his organization is working to get You Tube to reinstate the video. He says that in the meantime, SaveCalifornia.com is running the video on their web site.

Washington, DC – The Obama agents, through the DHS and other assorted colluders, are plotting a major ‘Reichstag’ event to generate racial riots and produce the justification for martial law, delaying the November 2012 elections, possibly indefinitely, a DHS whistleblower informed the Canada Free Press on Tuesday.

The ‘Reichstag Event’ would take the form of a staged assassination attempt against Barack Obama, “carefully choreographed” and manufactured by Obama operatives. It would subsequently be blamed on “white supremacists” and used to enrage the black community to rioting and looting, the DHS source warned.

The Obama administration would then use the violence and chaos they created as justification for the imposition of martial law in major urban cities in America, the creation of DHS checkpoints, restriction of travel, and the indefinite delay of the November 2012 elections.

The Reichstag event refers to a fire started during Hitler’s rise to power. The fire allowed him to grab emergency powers and murder his opposition. Historians have long believed that Hitler started the fire himself, while he blamed it on the Communists.

Mitt Romney surged to his largest opinion poll lead yet in the presidential race on Friday, two days after President Barack Obama came out in favor of gay marriage.

The GOP challenger reached 50 percent support for the first time in the Rasmussen Reports daily tracking poll. That put him ahead of Obama among likely voters by seven percentage points.

The poll, released on Friday, showed a three-point swing to Romney from the previous day, when Romney had a four-point edge over the president in a head-to-head contest.

The government of Kuwait may be just days from fully adopting a strict new blasphemy law that will call for the death penalty for anyone who insults the name of Muhammad.

The Kuwaiti parliament voted overwhelmingly for the strict blasphemy law. If approved by Kuwait’s supreme leader, the law will impose the death penalty on Muslims who insult Allah, the Quran, Muslim prophets, or Muhammad’s wives.

Christians and other non-Muslims will get off a little easier. They’ll just be given a minimum of a 10-year prison sentence.

International Christian Concern’s Aidan Clay says that the move is part of a broader picture of what’s happening in the Middle East.

Beset on two fronts, Bashar Assad rushed his elite Presidential Guard Division to Damascus Thursday, May 10, as two massive car bombs in the al Qaza district of Damascus demolished the command center of the Syrian military security service’s reconnaissance division, killing 55 people and injuring more than 300.

Over to the southeast, 12,000 special operations troops from 17 nations, including the US and other NATO members, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, were poised on the Jordanian side of the Syrian border for an exercise codenamed “Eager Lion.”

DEBKAfile’s military sources also disclose that the bomb attack on Damascus was the most serious his regime had suffered against a military target since the 14-month Syrian uprising began. For the first time, Assad moved his most loyal unit, the Republican Guard Brigade, into central Damascus.
